The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has introduced a new mark for Bharat Series Vehicle Registration (BH-Series). According to the new vehicle registration, the vehicle with a BH mark will not require a new registration mark when the owner shifts from one state to another. This IT-based facility is available on a voluntary basis to defense personnel, employees of the central and state government, Private companies having offices in four or more states, Central & State PSU’s. However, re-registration of a vehicle was needed earlier while moving to another state. BH-Series aim to centralized the system of registration of vehicles easier when relocating from one state to another.

Bharat Series Vehicle Registration
Ministry of Road Transport, Government of India has notified a new registration regime that will free vehicle owners from the re-registration process when the owner shifts from one union territory to another. As per the current rules, the owner is allowed to keep the vehicle with them for a maximum of 12 months in the state where it is registered. In addition, the owner has to get re-registration of the vehicle before the expiry of the registration period. New BH Mark Vehicle Registration Rules in India, Policy, Status
This scheme will allow the free movement of personal vehicles across the States of India. The motor vehicle tax will be levied for two or more years. The MoRTH ensures the seamless transfer of vehicles across the states. It is said by the ministry that the Motor Vehicle Tax at the time of registration in respect of BH- Series non- Transport vehicles will be 8 % for vehicles below Rs. 10 Lakh value. In addition, States or Union Territories charge 2% extra for diesel vehicles whereas, electric vehicles receive the relaxation of 2% tax. If we talk about the current act Under section 47 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, a person is allowed to keep the vehicle for not more than 12 months in any state other than the state where the vehicle is registered, but a new registration with the new state-registering authority has to be made within the stipulated time of 12 months. There is good news for those who shift frequently around the country and want to avoid problems related to the process of transferring the registration of vehicles. Registration rules of the vehicle vary from one state to another.
