Details about the Syllabus
The PSEB (Punjab State Education board) class 9 syllabus consists of eight subjects that have few compulsory subjects which everyone must take. All the students are expected to pass in all the subjects. The subjects are grouped into A and B. The compulsory subjects are:
- Group A consists of the subject as shown in the table which is Punjabi (Part A and B) or Punjab history and culture part- A and Punjab History and culture Part- B;
English, Hindi or Urdu, Mathematics, Science, Social science.
- Group B consists of the following subjects- Computer science and the following electives. Kindly go through the table below.

It is mandatory for all the students to pass in all the subjects in Group A and compulsory to appear in both the subjects from Group B. every student is expected to choose an elective from the elective section or go for NSQF (National skill Qualification Framework) as their main subjects. It is important for all to pass in all the eight subjects.

About the PSEB Class 9th Examination
The final examination is conducted for 3 hours and is a written test. The examination for the above is conducted for a total mark of 100, which comprises both the compulsory subjects as well as the elective ones. But this is not applicable for Punjabi and Punjabi history and culture. The subject of Punjabi and Punjabi’s history and culture carries a total mark of 75 rather than 100. Every student is expected to score a maximum mark of 33 out of 100 in the compulsory as well as the elective while a maximum mark of 25 out of 75 in the subject of Punjabi part A and B and Punjabi history and culture in order to get promoted.
