1. Can you tell something about IITTM?
Ans. It is a premier centre of excellence for education, training and research in Tourism, Travel and Cargo sector provides basic framework for investment in Human Resource Development. Established as a registered society under Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India, in 1983 at New Delhi, and was shifted to Gwalior in 1992 functioning there since then. In addition, a center for Eastern India was opened at Bhubaneswar in 1996. A center at Delhi became operational in July 2007.
2. When we have many tourism institutes in our country? Why students are more interested for IITTM?
Ans. Because it is the apex body of the Union Government in tourism and travel education, research, training and consultancy in the country .IITTM is established the years with creative dependable and dynamic team of students serving in a variety of reputed corporations .With well structured courses, excellent faculties and innovative personality development programme, IITTM is definitely a name to come first in mind of those seeking to pursue higher in the field of tourism education in the country.
3. What are the teaching programmes offered at IITTM?
Ans. IITTM offers four types of Post Graduate Diploma Programmes (PGDM) at three locations (Six in all).
- Gwalior- PGDM (Tourism and Travel), PGDM (Services) and PGDM (International Business)
- Bhubaneswar- PGDM (Tourism and Travel) and PGDM (International Business)
- New Delhi- PGDM (Tourism and Leisure)
4. Are your programmes approved by AICTE?
Ans. Yes, all our PGDM programmes are approved by AICTE
5. Do you offer undergraduate programmes?
Ans. No, as of now we are not admitting students for our under-graduate programme.
6. What are the fees for the various programmes?
Ans. Fees for PGDM (IB) and PGDM (S) is around Rs. 1,04,000 for the first year, and around Rs. 1,03,000 for second year. Fees for our PGDM (TT) and PGDM (TL) is around Rs.80,000 for first year and around Rs.53,000 for second year.
7. Can fees be paid in installments?
Ans. No, annual fees must be paid at the time of admission.
8. What is the eligibility Criteria for the various programmes?
Ans. Should be a graduate in any discipline of a university and equivalent thereto.
9. What is the duration of the PGDM programmes?
Ans. Duration of PGDM programmes is around 20 months spread over 4 semesters. There are four taught semesters for PGDM (IB) and PGDM (S) programmes while PGDM (TT) and PGDM (TL) programmes have three taught semesters and one semester of internship.
10. Does IITTM have hostel facilities?
Ans. Yes, a modest hostel accommodation for both boys and girls is available on the campus. However, the capacity of these hostels is limited and the offer is made on the basis of merit. Some students may have to make their own arrangements for stay in adjoining residential colonies. One can find a good accommodation rather conveniently.
11. How do I apply?

12. I have appeared at CAT 2007. Do I have to appear at IITTM Admission test?
Ans. No, we accept CAT scores. But in case you would like to improve your chances you may appear at our admission test on May 24, 2009. You may not pay additional test fees for that.
13. What are the specializations offered in these courses?
Ans. International Business- Marketing Management, Aviation Management, International Trade Operations, Cross Cultural Management, International Tourism Management
Services- Marketing Management, Financial Management, HRM, Tourism and Hospitality Services, Financial Services, IT Enabled services.
Tourism and Travel- Air fares and Ticketing, Air Cargo Operations, Tour Operations, Marketing
Tourism and Leisure- Event Management, Adventure Tourism, Travel Trade.
14. Do reservations apply for admission to IITTM programmes?
Ans. Yes, as per rules of the central government.
15. Does IITTM undertake any research and training programs?
Ans. Yes, IITTM staffs are actively engaged in research, consultancies, executive training and other out reach activities.
16. Is there any "ragging" at IITTM?
Ans. No, it is banned. At most you may have a couple of friendly interactions with "seniors".
17. Is there prescribed uniform?

18. From which states do you have students in your course?
Ans. From almost all the states.
19. Do you offer any foreign language?
Ans. No.
20. What is your placement record?
Ans. With fast expansion of the tourism and travel industry and diversification of economy, this course offers many alterations in addition to proper tourism industry segments .These include theme parks, events segment, Resorts, travel BPO’s etc. There are adequate avenues for career mobility across the industry segments. IITTM has had an excellent placement record during last few years. |
