The nation is undergoing a glorious period in the history of our business. As the economy develops and the per capita income increases, the relative share of employment among different sectors moves in favour of services. But, the growth of the services industry would largely depend on the quality of human resources. It requires tremendous expertise and dynamism to succeed in this competitive environment. It is also important to develop the ability to continuously acquire new knowledge and adapt to emerging business realities.
Twenty-five years ago i.e. on 18th January 1983, we started our journey and are presently celebrating our Silver Jubilee year. Since its inception IITTM as a center of excellence in services sector, particularly in tourism and travel trade, has served the nation with dedication.
From the academic session 2007 – 08, we are offering four postgraduate programmes i.e. (1) PGDM – Tourism and Travel (2) Tourism and Leisure (3) Services (4) International Business, to meet the ever-increasing needs of the industry. These programmes are focused on giving the students an excellent grounding on the respective areas / subjects and empowering them with success oriented skills.
IITTM also offers short-duration programs designed to provide state-of the-art training to update the working executives whose formal education was completed some years ago. This encompasses various areas focused on the synergy between the participant’s personal growth and the organization’s development. The institute also conducts guide training courses and capacity building programmes for service providers being sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India. The Institute has conducted many tailor-made programmes for State and Central Government departments / autonomous bodies in our centers at Gwalior, Bhubaneswar, Delhi and Goa as well as in places like Ahmedabad, Konark, Itanagar, Port Blair, Guwahati, Kohima, Agra etc. We are continuously trying to create a conducive learning environment where students can develop proficiencies in the field of their choice.
On behalf of the Institute, I reaffirm our commitment to create world-class manpower for which I look forward to the co-operation of one and all.
